<image:title>Projects - Eat Mgm</image:title>
<image:caption>Eat Mgm is a platform which aims to do three things. 1) Deepen and strengthen the food community in Montgomery, between restaurants, diners, visitors and the media. 2) Raise awareness locally and beyond of the variety and quality of restaurants and food experiences in MGM. 3) Increase business for local restaurants in mid-August. In conjunction with Meg Lewis from the CVB, we worked to produce a new website and new branding assets for Eat Mgm. Meg worked initially with the 2015 Gumptioneers class. They produced a logo that, today, still serves as a base of the revamp. This year, we worked to make more sustainable and modern so that it can serve its purpose in the years to come. Also, we migrated the website from Wix to Squarespace which is cheap, user friendly, and modern which works well with the new look and feel of the branding assets produced. Currently, Meg is looking to produce merchandise with the design assets created.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Etsy Mgm</image:title>
<image:caption>Having an online e-commerce shop has many perks - one being that it is easy to set up and another that you forgo the expensive cost of renting a space. Etsy is just one of those many e-commerce options. There are so many local Etsy sellers producing phenomenal work products that we don’t know about. That is the drawback of selling in a market with such a surplus of supply - it’s easy to be overlooked. The Etsy Mgm project is an initiative which promotes shopping local. By taking a downtown store front, donated by Foshee Realty, and turning it into a physical, curated showcase (created by Bryan Svencer of David & Nicole’s Antiques), we can drive interest and business to a select number of these businesses at a time. This gives our local sellers and opportunity to drive traffic to their Etsy shops and ultimately prosper. We served as the liasons by contacting all sellers and connecting John and Bryan so the construction can begin.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects</image:title>
<image:caption>What's Good Gump was a twitter platform created by the 2015 class of Gumptioneers. The idea was to create a platform which features only the good news going on in Montgomery, Al. Our idea was to expand this platform to other social media outlets then find students to curate the content. Along with Clay McInnis, we formulated a plan to collect two students (one studying graphic design and the other marketing) who excell in their major and offer them a social media internship. The two would work together to produce content for all What's Good Gump profiles. We're currently still securing these students. and the interns from CVB, along with Meg from Eatmgm We utilized Nanny the Goat as a tool to bring attention to the platform. Using Nanny became a conjoined effort between the Gumptioneers and interns from the Convention & Visitors Bureau (Meghan Ashner and Whitney Gould). They organized a social scavenger hunt which we produced the social media graphic for. With their help and other organic traffic, What's Good Gump has over 1250+ likes on Facebook! Continuing Forward: AUM AD Fed Club, AUM Art Club, and the AUM Marketing Club have agreed to create an internship for students. This position will soon be advertised on AAF Montgomery's job board!</image:caption>

<image:caption>During our first meeting of the summer, we were approached by Bob Vardeman. His hope was that we could assist in the promotion of Upscale Resale -- an event which brings local artists in to design small spaces to showcase how the goods from the Habitat Store can be used. Once we took on the project, our goal was to produce an identity for event that was not recycled from another branch. The new logo is fresh and modern and compliments the new, clean design of the event poster.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When we first began working with Uber, our original goal was to assist drivers in increasing the amount of Uber riders in the Montgomery area through multiple types of promotional and advertisement campaigns. In addition to working with Clay McInnis, we had the opportunity to work with numerous Uber drivers throughout the River Region. Most notably, Terrance Woods and Keith Rudolph were a tremendous. They assisted us by teaching us more about so we could better assist them. We met on multiple occasions to discuss certain tactics that may or may not work in the downtown area. We initially wanted to create a consumer-centric campaign but decided to forego the option due to potential legal issues. Instead, we produced a “hot list” for Uber drivers. These lists will be used when picking up riders who are not familiar with the city. It contains a brief history of Montgomery, and also refers the riders to use local apps such as The Hot Spots app and pages like Eat Mgm and Drink Mgm to find local restaurants and bars throughout the city.</image:caption>

<image:caption>New Doctors Mgm is a Facebook group we created to help new doctors get better plugged into life in Montgomery. The initiative strives to assist them by giving them a place to communicate and learn about local events happening in the Capital City. We wanted to make this platform with the assistance of 2020, Baptist Health, and Jackson Hospital in order to retain visiting doctors. Unfortunately, it was difficult to get in touch with our contacts at both hospitals and 2020. With limited resources, finding these doctors flowing into our community was difficult initially. During the closing week of the Gumptioneers program, we were given a list of doctors expected to come into Montgomery soon. As of now, we have sent request to over 15 doctors to join the group and are hopeful that many more to join in the near future. We have been contacted by medical recruiters who want us to help the new doctors coming in to the River Region become an intricate part of our community. We are currently planning a lunch or dinner where the current and future members of New Docs Mgm can meet and get to know one another.</image:caption>

<image:caption>"What do you think about having a goat race down Dexter Avenue?" This was a thought passed around during our first meeting of Summer 2016. Habitat for Humanity asked to help come up with a fundraising idea then create and package a poster for the event. Nick Mielke was our Habitat contact that we reported to. The files for all Habitat for Humanity projects we completed will be handed over to him. They are currently trying to smooth out all the fine details and assume the race will happen Spring 2017. Once they have gathered all the information needed, the posters and possibly other poster will be updated.</image:caption>

How did Gumptioneers changed my view of Mgm? I am from Pensacola, Florida so as you can imagine, Montgomery wasn't my first choice. I always thought that I would graduate and immediately move away. I am still here, two months later, and I plan on staying in town for a while longer. This is totally because the Gumptioneers changed my entire perspective of Montgomery. I met so many extraordinary people this summer and I love how big everyones' hearts are. Bottom line: There are so many people who want to see this city grow and thrive and I am now one of them thanks to the Gumptioneers! :)</image:caption>

<image:caption>Michael Tyner, Public Relations Career: PR Student, UA Grad Date: Spring 2017 Interesting Fact: Even though my favorite food is pizza, my favorite restaurant in Montgomery is Ixtapa. How did Gumptioneers changed my view of Mgm? While I have always loved Montgomery, I never knew that there were so many people who love it just as much if not more than I do. There are countless individuals who have given up so much of their time and energy unconditionally in order to see Montgomery flourish. I can say without a doubt in my mind that being a Gumptioneer has opened my eyes and helped me see just how wonderful of a city we all live in. It has changed my life forever, and I will never forget the relationships that I have created, the moments that I have shared and the people that I have helped while being a Montgomery Gumptioneer.</image:caption>
